Many are experiential, helping students work together to better understand issues related to peer pressure and to improve skills needed for success in school and life. While peer pressure is often associated with unsafe or unhealthy activities, peer pressure isn’t all bad. Students can also influence one another to make good, safe and healthy choices. Have students think about a time when they experienced negative peer pressure and a time when they experienced positive peer pressure. Have them write essays, including: • what they were pressured to do • who was involved • how they felt at the time • what they decided to do and why. Have students create posters themed “The person I am.” They can base these on the activities on pages 8 and 9 of the workbook. Have them start by pasting a photograph of themselves in the center of a piece of poster board or construction paper. Around the picture, they can write their values in one color and their goals in another. Encourage them to be as creative as they’d like in terms of design. For example, they can use different fonts for the words, draw graphics or paste on additional pictures.
