Cut out pictures from magazines that show people being active and doing things to stay fit (such as walking, playing sports or eating healthy foods). Also cut out pictures that show people doing sedentary and/or unhealthy things (such as watching TV, playing video games or eating unhealthy food). Show each picture to the children and ask whether the activity shown is one that will help them stay fit or not. Then, using the "fit" pictures they chose for reference, ask children to write or draw an explanation of why they think staying fit can be fun (for example, the people in the pictures are smiling, playing, etc.). Ask him or her to also talk about safety when being active outdoors—such as drinking plenty of water and wearing sunscreen in hot weather, and dressing warmly in cold weather. Afterward, the children can write thank-you notes.
