If appropriate, have students put their plan into action. Afterward, discuss what worked, what didn’t and what could be improved. Students should consider issues such as: • Where would they get the money to buy ingredients? (Examples: savings, loans) • Where would they make the cookies? How would they package them? • How will they decide how many cookies to make? Why? • From which location(s) will they sell the cookies? Why? Do they need to get permission? Are there rules to follow? • How much will they charge? (Have them consider paying for ingredients, what their time is worth and making a profit, for example.) • How will they advertise the product or sale(s)? • How will they convince people to buy their cookies instead of other foods? • What will they do with profits? Discuss how the various steps correspond to different careers.
